GIANT AntiSpyware is, just like its name suggests, an antispyware solution with real-time protection and a pleasant interface to help you take full advantage of its great features.
Unfortunately however, GIANT AntiSpyware is no longer updated, so although it comes with a dedicated auto-update tool, you're not able to get the latest virus definitions.
The application however comes with several great features, including a fully configurable scanning process. For example, you can initiate a so-called “Intelligent quick scan” that takes just a few minutes but that also checks the cookies stored on your computer.
On the other hand, the full system scan checks memory, drive and folders, but also cookies, only that it takes a bit longer.
The real-time protection feature rely on what the developer calls “agents”, with three such agents deployed by the application. While the “Internet Agents” take care of you computer and protect it against threats found online, the “System Agents” defend your system of malicious attempts to change security permissions or other settings.
Last but not least, the “Application Agents” blocks any software solution that may modify system settings or the installed apps.
As a bonus, GIANT AntiSpyware also boasts five other tools to explore and secure the computer, but also to enhance the privacy level. “System Explorers”, “System Inoculation”, “Browser Hijack Restore”, “Tracks Eraser” and “Secure File Shredder” all come with self-explanatory names and are accessible via “System Tools” menu.
Overall, GIANT AntiSpyware is an excellent security solution, but it can pretty well bite the dust if it has to deal with newer infections. There are no definition updates available and in most cases, these are the main tools that make the difference between a clean and an infected computer.
