If all you need is a tool ready to quench simple remote control needs then IgRemote may fit the bill perfectly. It does not require installation and it brings to the table both the server and the client utilities necessary to accomplish the remote control feat.
No installation required
The application is ready to be used as soon as the executable file is extracted from the downloaded archive. It is better to have it stored in a folder of its own because after the first connection a configuration file is created, allowing future connections to be established quickly and without effort.
IgRemote is not wrapped in a complicated interface and all the options are available in the main application window.
Client and server mode settings
You can choose between client (local machine) and server (remote station) mode. In the case of the latter the IP address is automatically detected and you can select a different port than the default one.
There is also the possibility to protect the connection with a password so that unauthorized persons are prevented from accessing the machine remotely. Moreover, the server includes options for enabling remote control as well as for logging; the process can function as a service so that it is always on.
The settings for the client are different and apart from punching in the necessary credentials and connection port there are options for enabling remote control, screen and sound transfer.
In the window showing the screen of the remote machine IgRemote provides details about the connection, such as the transfer rate, quality of the stream and current resolution of the viewing screen.
Bare-bones remote viewing utility
IgRemote is an ultra-simple, straightforward remote viewing tool free of any bells and whistles. It is suitable for basic remote control tasks, features intuitive options and does not require installation on the local or the remote machine.
