The SharePoint Variations Editor application will allow you to view and analyze certain aspects of the SharePoint Variations settings of a Site Collection. Few aspects of this application are designed to replace any of the functionality found in the standard administration pages in SharePoint 2007.
Note:
The Variations Editor application do not access the Sql Server directly or using other kind of hacks. It uses the SharePoint API to access various SharePoint and Variations properties. Due to its reliance on the API, it must be run from the SharePoint server.
Warning!

· This version (officially version 2) has added to it the ability to import and export site/page content to other language nodes. This is valuable, in my opinion, in that out-of-the-box variations cannot push content from any node except the Source Node (label). So now, with the Variations Editor, you have the ability to take a non-source node's content and push it to another node. So if you have a Spanish site for Spain and need a new site for Mexico, you don't have to translate the Source node (English in my case) after creating a new heirarchy. You just Export the content in the Spain site to the Mexico site. Done.
