Smartphone Media Studio is a simple video conversion software solution that is actually designed to help users convert their movies into a suitable format for their mobile phones.

Although the market is already full of apps capable of handling multiple formats at the same time, Smartphone Media Studio can only save the files in 3GP format.

On the other hand, it can open both DVD content and video files in the following formats: AVI, MPG, WMV, 3GP, MP4, MPEG, FLV, ASF, VOB AND MOV.

The interface is nothing special, but everything is quite easy to use because the user just has to follow a simple wizard to complete the conversion.

Just pick the content you wish to convert and specify the location, decide whether you want to use the built-in settings or go for advanced ones, choose the output folder and that's it. The advanced settings mode comes with detailed settings on the video size, zoom, video and sound quality.

Smartphone Media Studio works pretty smooth, but there's still room for improvements. There's no configuration screen, while the help manual is only available online, so you need an Internet connection to find more info on the program.

Otherwise, it runs on low computer resources and doesn't hamper computer performance at all, although we noticed that it sometimes freezes for about 1 second on Windows 7 machines.

Overall, Smartphone Media Studio is just an average product that does exactly the same thing as all the other freeware solutions out there. The price may actually make the difference though.
