Berg Player is a lightweight and simple-to-use media player which supports several formats supported by Flash, including SWF.
If you're using Windows 7, then make sure to run Berg Player with administrative privileges. Otherwise, it will pop up several errors during runtime.
The interface of the program is clean and intuitive. Media files can be imported by using the file browser only, since the "drag and drop" method is not supported.
In the list you can check out the source path, initial and output size, compression and information about each clip. Simply double-click a video and it will be played in a separate window.
So, you can use standard media player functions, such as pause and stop, navigate back and forth within the clip and switch to full screen mode. Furthermore, you can take snapshots, create an executable file, projector or screensaver, enable Berg Player to create backup and to ignore invalid SWF formats, and more.
The simplistic application requires a very low amount of system resources (which is barely noticeable), has a good response time and didn't freeze or crash during our tests. Berg Player popped up multiple errors but this didn't seem to affect the overall functionality of the tool. Several key elements are missing (e.g. adjust the volume) but, even so, we recommend Berg Player to all users who prefer a straightforward software.
