If you are a hardcore internet surfer who has made a hobby out of downloading video clips (e.g. from YouTube), then you have probably noticed that most file extensions are FLV.
Many media players don't support the FLV format. One solution is to convert the FLV file into another, more user-friendly one (like AVI), but you risk losing the quality of the audio and video during conversion.
The easiest way to view FLV files it by using FLV player. We're talking about an ultra-simple media player that only supports FLV files.
Now you must be thinking "well, if it can support FLV files, why couldn't the manufacturer make it support other ones as well?".
The reason is simple. Most of us use a certain media player at all times, and we don't like change that much. If we find a good media player, we tend to stick with it. Only when problems occur (e.g. media player doesn't read FLV files) we think about temporary alternative solutions.
FLV player is easy to install and to play with. Its features are strictly limited to viewing FLV files.
In the settings menu you can choose for the software to check updates automatically (but once a day at most), remember last position used on screen, remember last used volume settings, and try to fit window on desktop after loading video.
Although it is small, it offers some useful information. For instance, also in the setting menu you can use video smoothing when scaling, as well as maintaining framerate in full screen mode, but the application warns you that these options use additional CPU memory.
Moreover, there is an info tab where you can view known information about a specific video file.
So, here it is. FLV player may not be of high performance, but its few features are well done. Try it out for yourself. We like it.
