SWF Compressor is an easy-to-use software that can reduce the size of your SWF files.
The interface of the program is plain and simple. There are no extraordinary or hidden features that can be found here.
So, all you have to do is browse for SWF files in your computer (the "drag and drop" method is not supported), select a file and then hit the "Compress SWFs" button.
Furthermore, you can batch-convert files. In this case, they have to be in the same root. You cannot use multiple selection, so simply select the folder and initiate compression. Also, the program allows multiple instances.
A task is completed in a very reasonable amount of time while the program uses a small amount of system resources. You can view the status (e.g. "Compression finished"), as well as the amount of bytes which has been cut.
SWF Compressor manages to reduce the size of files while keeping the original image and sound quality. Make sure to backup your SWF files just in case, because SWF Compressor doesn't create a new output file, but overwrites the initial one.
Even if it's extremely simple to use by beginners, the software doesn't come with a help file and lacks any kind of settings. Also, the difference between the original and compressed size of a SWF file is not very impressive.
For example, the program reduced a 24MB file by 3MB. So, in the case of large files, this minor reduction is hardly noticeable. Plus, some media players could encounter problems playing the compressed file.
All in all, SWF Compressor is a decent program for reducing the size of SWF files, but it certainly needs to be improved when it comes to functionality and the interface.
