Computer visual design isn’t an easy task, even though there are tons of specialized applications which simplify the whole process to a few drag and drop operations. For instance, colors in web design projects go around by code, and it’s close to impossible to know all of them. In this regard, Color Picker helps you define a color tone you want to use, and reveal corresponding code.

You can carry the application wherever you go on a thumb drive, since installation is not required, and it comes in an incredibly lightweight package. Another consequence of portability here is that system registry entries are not modified in the process, so you don’t have to worry about the health status of the target PC.

All you get to work with is found in a compact, yet pretty intuitive interface. A preview are updates in real time as you decide which color to use in your projects. What’s more, there’s also a bit of sample text inside the preview, it too with customizable color so you can choose the best contrast for background and text.

Unlike most applications of its kind, there’s no built-in dropper with which to grab a color tone from somewhere outside the main window, so you only get to work with the provided features. However, this isn’t really an inconvenience, especially because of the color range samples which update on the RGB sliders as you move them around.

There’s a set of buttons to use to select the element for which to change the color which can either be background or foreground. Provided code is RGB, with values read right below corresponding sliders, as well as the HTML code. Exporting needs to be through copy for the HTML code, while RGB values must be manually written down.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Color Picker is a lightweight, reliable application if you’re not really interested in the exact tone of a pixel on screen. There’s no actual color picker for areas outside the main window, but finding the right combination of colors for background and text is easy enough, with RGB and HTML code instantly revealed.
