Virtual printers have been around for some time, and if you’re not familiar with them, then you might want to know they act as instant file converters, letting you initiate a print function normally, but generating a local file under the format you need, such as PDF for instance. With this in mind, Print2Flash wants to extend the range of output formats by targeting online usage.
First off, you need to go through the simple setup process so that the application can integrate itself as a virtual printer in your system. Don’t worry, no harm is done to your PC, and neither are you required to restart the system for proper functionality.
There are two ways to work with the application, and one of them is through the dedicated interface. Initiating a process simply requires you to drag printable files over the main window, with a processing screen letting you select elements you want to appear in the final result. Default HTML, printing, and document preferences can be set here so you don’t manage them for each new file you have to print.
Another way to trigger the application’s core function is to simply initiate a print process from any document, image, or web page that supports this function. If it’s not set as your default printer, you need to select it from the corresponding drop-down menu.
Once this is done, the same configuration window appears to add finishing touches. This window also acts as a real-time preview of your work, with options to cancel at any given moment.
Areas you can manage stretch from interface and protection, to watermark, optimization, as well as thumbnail generating. Integrated options let you configure the output for different demands, with the possibility to exclude printing or text copying for safety, and more.
On an ending note, Print2Flash might not be amongst the top requirements after a fresh install of Windows, but it’s good to have around if working on web-based projects, or you simply need an extra file format to have around as an export option. Your system is kept intact, while resource consumption is minimum, making it worth a try overall.
