Connect to your default webcam in order to obtain real-time feedback and capture pictures at the press of a button with this lightweight application. #Capture Image #Image Capture #Webcam Capture #Capture #Screenshot #Snapshot
For some time now, laptops got fitted with webcams to make communication and virtual interaction comfortable. These come with more and more powerful specifications, but you might need some specialized applications to access preview and take snapshots, which is the purpose of Krimp.
You first need to follow a few steps in order to deploy the application so it can be able to read your system and detect the appropriate webcam driver. Before you enjoy all it has to offer, it’s recommended to make sure that your computer is equipped with .NET Framework, even though it usually comes in the default set of features on modern Windows iterations.
On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t need a system restart in order to function. It automatically detects any connected webcam, showing the corresponding driver in a dedicated field. Sadly, there’s no option to select a different one in case more devices are connected to your computer, and only the default one is taken into account.
Preview isn’t delivered as soon as you start the application, and you need to toggle this at the press of a button, which is also used to stop preview. A decent area shows real-time webcam feedback. A separate function is used for the capture function, which brings up a save dialog to choose the location of the freshly-captured image.
Sadly, the application is only capable of capturing static images, without a component to record videos. What’s more, it doesn’t hold any particular effects or filters to add, letting you save a straightforward picture. You can’t set a default save location if you want to take sequential pictures and have them automatically delivered to a location of choice.
All things considered, we can state that Krimp comes with good intentions, but it’s pretty straightforward even for a plain webcam capture tool. Saving each picture becomes a time-consuming operation, and without any special effects or filters, the entire experience quickly becomes dull.
