Mirror RT for Windows 8
Mirror RT for Windows 8 is a lightweight software application designed specifically for Windows 8 users in order to help them user their webcam for taking a quick peek at their appearance right from their screen.
The tool’s aim is to help you use a virtual mirror for reflecting the video streams provided by your webcam. It comes in handy especially for users that need to take a quick glance before entering an online meeting.
The utility displays the borders of a real mirror on your desktop and gives you the possibility to view your image mirrored on your screen. In order to display the video streams, the utility needs your permission to activate the webcam.
Since it doesn’t come packed with any configuration settings, even less experienced users can learn to master the entire process in no time.
However, advanced users may find it pretty inconvenient to work with a program that doesn’t offer support for power features. You are not allowed to take screenshots and export them to an image file (e.g. JPG, BMP, TIF, GIF, PNG), adjust the contrast and brightness, and alter the border of the virtual mirror, just to name a few suggestions.
During our testing we have noticed that Mirror RT for Windows 8 provides very good video quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. It remains light on system resources, so it doesn’t burden the overall performance of the computer, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality.
All in all, Mirror RT for Windows 8 offers a simple software solution and comes bundled with limited features for helping you use a virtual mirror that reflects the image taken by a webcam device.
