WebCam Companion is a powerful webcam utility designed not only to improve the overall quality of the video, but also to add some special effects and capture streamed content.
The application has a rather eye-candy interface that shows you main features right in the main window. No matter if you click on “Capture,” “Masque,” “Fun Frame,” “Edit” or “Monitor,” you still discover a whole new world with several options.
Take screenshots and record videos
The “Capture” utility has a self-explanatory name and is designed to help you capture photos or videos from the video you stream with your webcam.
Rich suite of configuration settings
The customization level is absolutely impressive and not only that it gives you the power to take 3D screenshots, but you can also customize quality, format, number of photos in burst and add a prefix name. As for the video, you can again take 3D videos, with quality and format settings available as well.
Other handy features to play with
While the “Masque” and “Fun Frame” are pretty intuitive, WebCam Companion has many more goodies prepared for its users.
For example, it has a so-called “Blink Detection” tool, which means it doesn't take photos with closed eyes, but also some social networking tools to easily share content on YouTube, Flickr or Twitter.
Of course, it can record and edit HD video clips with ease, which means WebCam Companion provides the best possible video quality.
An overall efficient webcam program
WebCam Companion is undoubtedly a very handy software solution and works with a reasonable amount of computer resources, on any Windows workstation. If you get past the installation screen where you're also prompted to install some unnecessary tools, you end up with one great webcam tool.
