Nokia Firmware Downloader is a freeware Windows tool designed to help you download Nokia phone firmwares from the official servers of the Finnish company.
No matter if you just want to flash the phone or simply plan to create a custom firmware, Nokia Firmware Downloader provides very intuitive options, all through a simple interface that does nothing more than to display the information it collects from online servers.
There are multiple panels in the main window, so you're prompted to pick the mobile phone model before anything else. Obviously, you need to know exactly what type of Nokia phone you're using, just to make sure you're downloading the right firmware.
Be careful because trying to install an incompatible firmware can also damage the phone!
Next, you are asked to pick the release and the variants, while Nokia Firmware Downloader automatically generates the filelist, which is actually the file to be downloaded.
There's not much to configure about the application, but what's worse is that the available help file comes only in Japanese, so you can't get much help in case you need assistance while using the program.
In addition, once you start the program the same Japanese language greets the user, which means you have nothing else to do than to browse each menu until you manage to switch to English.
Overall, Nokia Firmware Downloader is a handy piece of software that does what it says, but it still needs some improvements in many key areas. A help file is also a must have and so is a configuration screen with proxy support.
