Windows Phone Support Tool

The Windows Phone Support Tool is a tool that will help you fix problems that prevent your Windows Phone 7 from updating successfully. The tool only works for the two error codes listed in the Symptoms section.

Unplug the USB cable from the phone.
Download the Windows Phone Support Tool from the Microsoft Download Center.

Here are the steps that you have to follow in order to fix your Windows Phone 7 update problems:
· On your phone, press and hold the Power Collapse this imageExpand this imagebutton for 5 seconds until the message Goodbye! appears.
· Press the Power Collapse this imageExpand this imagebutton again to turn the phone back on. As soon as the phone turns on and vibrates, press and hold the Camera Collapse this imageExpand this imagebutton until the "Connect to PC" screen appears. It may take a few moments for this to appear. As soon as the screen appears, you may release the Camera Collapse this imageExpand this imagebutton. Note The camera button is located on the side of your phone.

· Reconnect your phone by using the USB cable.
· Your phone will be detected by your computer and the Zune software may automatically start. This process frequently takes several minutes.
· Important If the Zune software does start, close it.
· In the Windows Phone Support Tool, click the Recover button.

· The Windows Phone Support Tool will install an update that fixes the problem and restart your phone. If you phone is locked, enter your password when prompted.
· When you see "The device has been updated" text, located at the bottom of the screen, close the Windows Phone Support Tool and disconnect your phone.

· Reconnect your phone to the computer to install the latest phone update by using the Zune software. (To update your phone's software, click Settings, click phone, and then click update.)
