SoundTaxi is a program that allows you to convert audio and video files of various extensions, including AVI, MP4, 3GP, MP3, WAV and WMA.
The interface of the tool is plain and simple. You can import media by using the file browser or the "drag and drop" method (batch processing is also supported), and the conversion task will automatically start.
In the "Settings" menu you can set the output destination (e.g. selected output path, same as the source file) and format.
In addition, you can select the encoder for the audio files, specify the compression quality, enable simple VideoRip mode, as well as disable advanced mode, to select files on startup and to automatically start conversion.
Furthermore, you can change the interface language, set the action if the output file already exists (e.g. overwrite, create a unique name), set SoundTaxi to automatically convert files from a particular folder, burn an audio or MP3 CD, copy to iPod, and more.
The application uses a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-drawn help file and didn't freeze or crash during our tests.
Audio and video files are quickly converted and SoundTaxi manages to keep a very good image and sound quality. Also, the tool's response time is excellent. Too bad the demo version has some severe restrictions.
All in all, SoundTaxi is a very good program for converting audio and video files and we highly recommend it to all users.
