ConvertHelper is a program which turns video files into 3GP, and audio tracks into MP3. But it can also extract the audio stream from clips and save it to MP3, as well as prepare items for Apple TV, Archos, BlackBerry Storm, Creative Zen, iPad, iPhone, PS3, PSP, Xbox360 and Zune.
The tool is packed in a plain and uncomplicated interface with an intuitive layout. The 'what you see is what you get' principle applies to ConvertHelper, since no other features can be found, aside from the ones available through the main application window.
Adding items to the file list can be done with the help of the file browser only because the 'drag and drop' function is not supported.
The file queue displays the location, duration and status of each item. So, all you have to do is specify the output directory and profile (along with the preset settings), in order to proceed with the conversion operation. In addition, you can remove an item from the file list or clear the entire queue.
The media conversion program encodes a file in reasonable time while using a very low amount of system resources. It is pretty responsive to commands and preserves a good image quality. However, this does not necessarily apply to the sound stream of the output videos.
Plus, you cannot make ConvertHelper turn off the computer or to open the output directory when all tasks are done, specify the thread priority, or configure audio and video settings (e.g. frame rate, aspect ratio, volume level, channel mode). There is no help file available.
