Kar2Midi is a simple command line tool designed to convert a karaoke midi file (.kar) to a midi file with lyrics (cakewalk, tune1000, farfisa). If not interested in lyrics then you can simply rename file extension .kar to .mid .

Here are some key features of "Kar2Midi":

· reads a binary midi file
· convert .kar midi type 1 to midi type 0
· remove .kar keywords (@)
· convert text words to lyrics or other events (e.g. sysex) that store the words
· convert paragraphs and linebreaks


There are many karaoke players and editors available, which handle karaoke
midi files in different formats. One of them is .kar format. There are also special midi karaoke hardware players or keyboards with this karaoke feature that require special formatting of midi format. Many don't accept the .kar format directly (or ignore the words when loading .kar).
