River Past Audio Converter is a tool that allows you to encode several audio and video files (e.g. 3GP, AVI, MKV, MOV, OGG, VOB) to other formats - AIF, AVI (audio only), FLAC, MKA, MP3, OGG, WAV and WMA.
The program has a simple-to-use interface in which you can add files and folders to the queue (the "drag and drop" method is supported, as well as batch conversion).
In the next steps, you can configure the audio format (type, compressor, sample frequency rate, bits, channel, bitrate and optionally enable timecode regulation), as well as specify the output directory and the action to take in case the file exists.
In the queue you can view the source and output file name and format, duration, sample rate, channel, bits, estimated size and status.
Tasks are completed in very short time and the output sound quality is very good. There's also a help file available for beginners, one that contains tutorials with snapshots.
On the other hand, the program uses a high amount of system resources and failed to recognize some AVI, AMR, RM, MP3 and VOB files. Furthermore, it needs third-party software (i.e. encoders) that you have to separately install, in order to convert files to the FLAC, MKA and OGG extensions, and you are not guided in any way on where to obtain them from.
All in all, River Past Audio Converter is a good application for encoding audio files but it needs big improvements. Even so, it's simple to use by both rookies and experts.

Requirements:
· River Past Audio Converter is tested to run on any PC with a Pentium III/Celeron CPU of 500 MHz or above. A sound card is required.
· DirectX 8.0 or above. We strongly recommend that you always use the latest the latest DX (currently 9.0b) because it provides better stability and performance.
· WMF - For WMA output, you must have Windows Media Format runtime 9 installed. We provide it in a separate download package.
· OGG filters - For OGG Vorbis output, you must have Tobias' OGG Vorbis DirectShow filters installed.
Limitations:
