Free Audio Converter

Free Audio Converter is a program with a pretty self-explanatory title - it allows you to easily encode audio tracks between the MP3, WAV, WMA and OGG formats.

The interface of the application is simplistic and intuitive. Audio files can be imported into the list by using either the treeview, file browser or "drag and drop" method. Batch processing is allowed.

In the queue you can read the name, source path, type, tag, metadata, size, duration, date of last modification, and other details regarding each file.

All you have to do is set the target path and output format, in order to proceed with the encoding task.

You can define the encoding settings when it comes to the audio format, sample frequency rate, channel mode and bits per second, as well as set the file type filter. Settings can be restored to their default values at any time.

You can add folders and include or exclude subfolders, remove duplicate or dead entries or move the items up and down in the list.

The application runs on a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, includes a well-drawn help file, though there are no graphical representations, and has a very good response time. It quickly finishes a task without freezing, crashing or popping up errors, and manages to preserve a very good sound quality.

We haven't come across any issues during our tests. Free Audio Converter is a simple tool that let's you convert MP3, WAV, WMA and OGG files and nothing more.
