Softpedia Editor's Review for MODPlug Tracker
|
A complex audio editor that will help you mix, play or create your own music
Written by Mihaela Citea on April 9th, 2012
Especially designed for music aficionados, MODPlug Tracker is an easy to use application that can help you create your own music.
When running the program for the first time, it prompts you to go through some setup steps. First of all, you have to choose the desired directories for songs, samples and instruments. Some other options are also configurable, such as selecting the sound device, mixing quality or the maximum polyphony level.
Noise reduction, configuring the bass expansion level or adjusting the equalizer are some of the options available in the program.
The application provides you with a user-friendly interface organized in multiple panes, which you can use to browse your PC or the Midi and Instruments libraries.
MODPlug Tracker offers you the possibility to work with several songs at once, in different panes. For each of them you have to mention the song title, type and make the initial settings, including the tempo and global volume.
This software supports four module types: Impulse Tracker, FastTracker XM, MOD and S3M (Soundtracker) and supports many sample file formats.
Every song you create can be edited according to your preferences, as you are able to set the parameters for each of the 16 channels. The instrument patterns you create can also be modified and arranged in the desired sequence, while the chord editor allows you to set the base key and notes. Moreover, you are able to assign a personalized comment to every song.
The sound normalizer and amplifier, the reversing tool and the silence utility are features designed to help you easily edit your audio samples or songs. In addition to this, you can configure the frequency, the global volume, the loop type and apply auto-vibration effects.
MODPlug Tracker is easy to use if you know your way around creating music. It offers multiple features that can help musicians make their songs, including track length estimation and midi recording.
