Slow MP3

In order to listen to your favorite songs, you can either use a web browser and surely find them on the Internet, or make use of a media player. There are various applications such as Slow MP3, that give you the possibility to play any given tune at different rates, while learning chords used.

Taking roughly about 1 Mb of space on your hard disk drive and using little system resources, you can rest assured that it runs regardless of your computer's configuration. When the main window is brought up you gain quick access to all available features.

Playback buttons are clearly visible, a volume sliders to adjust output decibels, as well as a keyboard that highlights keys according to given sound.

Loading a song to be played can only be done through the file menu, with no support for drag and drop feature. Doing so fills a preview section with two sound waves corresponding to the left and right channels.

Unfortunately, you can only load one song at a time, because there is no playlist to at least temporarily gain quick access to more audio files.

One of the most important features of the application is the possibility to slow down playback speed. This comes in handy because turning on the transcribe option highlights notes on a keyboard to get a glimpse of used chords.

Moreover, you can also use a slider to transpose the currently playing audio file. However, you can only take advantage of its features while a song is loaded because there is no implemented function that allows you to export the song with the minor adjustments you can make.

Slow MP3 is a straightforward application designed to offer mostly what the name suggests. Its features are limited and it does not manage to provide much help in audio editing. Only MP3 and WAV files are supported, further limiting long-term use.
