Automatic DJ intends to help you play audio files and automatically mix multiple sound files in order to create a sound “cocktail”. It provides quick access to all the music tracks from a specified disc or folder in order to build the playlist.
The goal of the tool is to play multiple songs and to create a seamless transition effect in order to provide the listener with a continuous track, without any gaps. This effect is achieved by inserting a crossfade effect between the files.
You can change the parameters of the audio effect by adjusting the duration and the volume level for each song. The MixEditor is also able to control the balance of the playback in order to tune the effect even more.
Creating the playlist is an easy task as the application automatically scans all the folders of a specified disk location in order to detect the supported files. If you want a specific order for your playlist you need to add the items in that order as you cannot change it afterwards.
The uses has the option of creating up to sixteen different “cocktail recipes” with the sound tracks that you want to use. Although this feature is present in the software, we did not manage to make the program remember a certain set of music files.
The interface of the program is compact and allows you to control the playback and the mix with a handful of buttons. You need to play around with the volume and balance parameters in order to create the desired effect since the application does not come with a detailed documentation.
Although Automatic DJ allows you to customize multiple parameters of the crossfade effect, the lack of documentation and the poor response time might urge you to find another solution in order to mix songs.
