JLC's Media Player
JLC's Media Player is a lightweight and portable piece of kit that lets you play media files. It supports a few formats, including MP3, MPG, WAV and WMV, and can be handled even by users with less or no experience in similar tools.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can just drop the executable file on any location of the hard drive and run it.
Alternatively, you can store JLC's Media Player on a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, and run it on any computer. Therefore, you can keep the app in your pocket whenever you're on the move.
What's more important is that JLC's Media Player does not work with Windows Registry entries (thus, minimizing the risk of system errors) and does not leave files behind after you remove it.
The interface of the app is represented by a small window with a plain layout. Loading media files can be done by using only the file browser, since "drag and drop" is not supported. So, you can use standard media player functions, such as pause and stop, navigate back and forth within the stream, and adjust the volume. It is also possible to enable repeat or shuffle mode, as well as to create and save playlists.
JLC's Media Player runs on a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and system memory, has a good response time and works smoothly, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. On the other hand, the program has not been updated for a very long time, and this aspect can be clearly seen by judging its interface. Otherwise, novice users can seamlessly figure out how to work with JLC's Media Player.
