During a brief and colorful installation, Sonique asks you to tick recognized file associations (as well as a computer restart).

These include MP3, OGG, CDA, WMA, XPL, PLS, M3U, and WAV. It doesn't sound too impressive, but for that period of time, it was hard for an audio player to meet these requirements.

Features from Sonique include a full featured playlist editor and fully animated menus, extensive skin support (of amazing work), audio and visual plugin support, an integrated AE4 Mpeg Audio Decoder, audio controls (e.g. pitch, balance), and others.

The interface still actually is kind of impressive. It feels like you stepped into a time portal to the future.

Now, when you look back 10 years ago before the "commercial age" had started in online environment, a software had the sole intention of pleasing its viewers. Sonique is probably the best example in this category.
