A fast and easy-to-use application designed to play most types of media files, featuring command line arguments and playlist manipulation. #Create playlist #Play multimedia #Multimedia player #Player #Multimedia #Playlist
There is a large variety of media players that race to offer the most features, customization options and output quality at the lowest resource cost possible. Since most file formats can be rendered by all of them, the choice now only relies on provided set of features. WV.Player is once of them and comes equipped mostly with the bare necessities.
The application does not require you to go through a setup process and can easily be stored on a removable disk drive. In terms of resource consumption, your computer won't feel a thing from running it, as it uses a low amount of CPU and memory.
Running it brings up a simplistic interface, with no shiny elements or something new on the block. A center list displays your selection of songs and playback options are stored in the lower side of the interface.
By default, you can only load a few audio file types in order to play them. However, you cannot create a playlist with combined elements. The overall design feels a little rough around the edges and is a little difficult to work with.
A side panel provides an explorer view of your hard disk drive so you manually navigate to the folder where your music files are found, since drag and drop is not supported. The next step is to select the preferred format from a drop-down menu, otherwise nothing is displayed. However, there is an option that allows you to add more formats, but this is done one by one.
The application is not the best of its kind, with missing advanced features. There is no integrated equalizer so you can adjust sound according to your liking. Moreover, you must bring up the main window each time you want to change a song due to the lack of hotkey support, which is a major inconvenience since the application does not automatically jump to the next songs in the list.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that WV Player is far from being an application you might consider using as your default media player. It supports as many formats as you can add, but the process of getting there is difficult, with an interface that leaves a little something to be desired.
