nuclear is an Electron-based music player that allows you to stream and download music from a broad range of sources. Basically, the application aims to provide you with a unified music environment for managing music content from some of the most popular free music sources.

Since it comes with support for scrobbling to Last.Fm, you've guessed it, one of the easiest ways to get started with this app is to head over to its Settings section and establish the connection with the aforementioned service.

As you may notice, on the left side of the main window, there are a couple of easily-accessible and self-explanatory sections. Be that as it may, we would like to point out that all the songs from your queue can be exported as playlists.

You can download any song by making use of the contextual menu, although, please note that you will have to manually start the downloads from the appropriate section. The actual player features are not exactly complicated. You can play and pause tracks and skip tunes forwards and backward, and that's about it.

The "Search" feature is also quite interesting as it allows you to search for content on YouTube, Vimeo, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud. You may also notice an extra option, namely YouTube playlists. This feature is particularly handy when it comes to downloading tunes.

Before we conclude, we would like to point out that nuclear is still a very young project. This, of course, means that you may encounter some bugs here and there, even though we haven't stumbled upon very annoying ones during our tests.

Even so, nuclear is a practical application aimed at users who want a distraction-free and unified environment for both streaming and downloading music from the most popular free sources. Naturally, it will take some time until it matures into a stable and feature-packed product but, until then, it still deserves a quick try-out since, who knows, you might even like it.
