Anubis Review by
4.0/5

Anubis is a lightweight audio plugin whose purpose is to help you work with a 16 voice polyphonic synthesizer. It comes with support for full MIDI learning implementation, envelope and LFO host synchronization mode, two oscillators with X-Mod, randomizable ADSR, graphical modulation envelopes up to 32 stages, one multi-mode filter, 7x7 modulation matrix, vibrato, tremolo, delay, and chorus.

It can be deployed on all Windows versions out there, provided that you have a VST host like energyXT or VSTHost installed on the target PC.

You are welcomed by a clean feature lineup. There’s no support for a help manual so you need to experiment a little bit with the dedicated parameters in order to understand how the audio plugin works. All audio settings are implemented within a single window.

Anubis gives you the possibility to set up the oscillator by tweaking several parameters. You can choose between several waveform types (e.g. Saw, Sine, Triangle, Pulse, White Noise), adjust the octave and semioctave, apply fine-tuning options, tweak the frequency and level, as well as enable or disable the sync mode.

What’s more, you are allowed to set up amplitude parameters in terms of attack, decay, sustain, and release, tweak the vibrato by adjusting the speed and wheel, set up MIDI channels, as well as make use of filters in order to adjust the cutoff, resonance, spread, and HPF.

You can make use of two LFOs and apply changes to the delay, steps, phase, and speed. Plus, you can work with an envelope and modify the shapes, sustain page, repeat stage, and active stages, set the zoom level, insert or delete stages, and change the total time.

Other important tweaking parameters worth being mentioned enable you to make adjustments to the delay (e.g. status, run mode, beat, time, amount), chorus (rate, status), and tremolo (e.g. mode, beat, depth, speed, shape), as well as alter the sound directly on a modulation matrix.

Tests have pointed out that Anubis carries out tasks quickly and provides very good output results. It remains light on system resources so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.

To sum things up, Anubis comes packed with comprehensive audio features for helping you produce interesting sounds. It is suitable especially for music enthusiasts.

What's new in Anubis 1.2.1:

  • Velocity to filter cutoff cause sound "click into nothing". Fixed.
