There are many people who use Winamp as their default audio player, due to its numerous functions and intuitive interface.
Since it was a pioneer in many respects, users relied on it even when it was in its early development stages - proof of this is that many still use old versions of Winamp, such as 2.x.
On the other hand, there are also specialized third-party plugins that are compatible only with this edition, such as Homeboy AAC Decoder for Winamp 2.x, that is meant to provide AAC support.
Just like most such plugins, users first need to unpack the archive, then manually copy the DLL to the Plugins folder from the installation directory of Winamp.
Once this step has been completed, users need to restart the player, access the Preferences window, via the right-click menu, then navigate to the Input sub-section of the Plug-ins section.
Selecting the Homeboy AAC Decoder record, the ‘Configure’ button gets activated so that users can adjust the decoder priority by moving the dedicated slider with the mouse cursor.
One can also adjust the default sampling rate, by switching between the provided multiple values: 22050, 32000, 44100 or 48000.
Once the plug-in is no longer needed, users can simply delete the DLL file from the Plugins folder of Winamp.
