You’re probably one of those individuals that walks around with headphones on, either tuned in to the favorite radio station or playing a selection of songs while on the road. This can also be done on a computer, and not just online. Sure enough, you need some specialized applications like Music Picker to manage playlists and be able to enjoy them.

First thing’s first, the application was built on the .NET Framework environments, and is one of the main requirements for proper functionality, so it’s best to install it if you haven’t done so already. On the other hand, modern Widows iterations come with it as a default feature, thus skipping you the effort.

On launch, you’re greeted by a selection window, so you can pick one or more folders that contains songs, so the playlist can be assembled. In case you already have a playlist created in iTunes, the application can be used to scan and import elements from it.

Additional options let you select the default player to use. You can either leave the one Windows brings up automatically, or manually pick a different one from your computer. Sadly, this means that the application doesn’t support playback on its own, so if you’re looking for an alternative audio player, this is not your lucky pick.

All files you add are enlisted along with details like track name, number, album, artist, and length. Moreover, you can shuffle the order, or reverse it, while it’s possible to move them around in a custom position, after which it can be saved as M3U. Although there’s a play button, it only brings up your default player to take care of this task.

It’s easy enough to create a playlist, with most popular media players coming with this as a default feature. Music Picker wants to make it a bit easier, with options to load songs from multiple locations, and even a different application, but the list of playlist management options leaves more to be desired, while there aren’t any built-in playback controls.
