Song Parser

Multimedia files are found on almost any computer today. Most libraries contain an ample amount of songs or sounds and numerous utilities have been developed to allow users to benefit fully from all their tracks. Song Parser is one such lightweight program that allows its users to transfer song titles to local text documents.

The application integrates seamlessly with either Spotify or Winamp, so anyone wishing to benefit from this tool should ensure at least one of these players is installed; unfortunately, no other multimedia players are supported by the current revision.

Once launched, the program automatically connects to either source programs and attempts to receive a feed from them. Users are free to choose a destination path or file extension and song titles are automatically written to disk, as playlists are being processed by the players.

This continuous monitoring of the source applications ensures the process is automated and users need not waste time surveying the program.

Output documents contain all the titles of the songs played with either Spotify or Winamp and the only customizable setting is the ability to limit the number of characters employed by the parser. Although useful when dealing with especially long titles, a few other adjustable preferences, or an advanced internal file structure, would have been nice features.

To sum up, Song Parser is a practical tool for anyone who regularly uses Winamp or Spotify to listen to music. The small program allows one to quickly write down to a local file the titles of all the songs played.
