If you're in the field of audio processing and work as a music producer, sound engineer or have a similar job, you probably heard about DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) and understand how they can help you enhance your projects.
VSTs are a popular mean of enriching the capabilities of your DAW by adding several new features to it in a simple manner. Transition is such a tool that you can use with your projects.
Installing the plugin on the target computer can be accomplished in a simple manner. Just unpack the archive and load the VST from your favorite DAW. Deploying it is a different process depending on the DAW you're using.
We admit that during our testing we had some trouble with making the VST work. However, if you encounter any difficulties, you can turn to the comprehensive guide that also features a link to an FAQ, where you can see the setup process for many popular DAWs.
Transition is a VST that enables you to create MIDI sequences in a simplistic and new manner. If you succeeded into configuring it, you can now create MIDI sequences from any MIDI instrument by routing the signal from your favorite MIDI instrument through this VST.
After doing so, you can simply select a preset from the list and hit the "Play" button in your DAW to see how it works, or just start creating your own sequence.
The principle behind this app is that it features "bots" that move through a matrix of cells until they encounter an obstacle (be it a wall, another bot or some random obstacle) and every time that happens, an effect is triggered.
When they do hit a wall, a note or chord that's based on the scale degree and octave settings is triggered. When another bot is hit, they will change direction and head towards the next obstacle. The list of possibilities is huge, as you can alter virtually any setting you want.
If you want a new way to create MIDI sequences in your favorite DAW, consider giving Transition a try. It might be a pain to configure, but after you get it running, the results are gonna be at least pleasant.
