    iOpener description

iOpener is an application that will find all of the “protected” AAC files in your iTunes library

iOpener is an application that will find all of the "protected" AAC files in your iTunes library (the ones you purchased online) and remove the DRM (encryption) from them "in place", allowing you to enjoy the music you've purchased on any device anywhere that supports the standard AAC format. This means that you will notice no change whatsoever in iTunes except that the "type" of the track will change from "Protected AAC audio file" to "AAC audio file."

Additionally, iOpener can run in the background (in your task tray, actually) and auto-decrypt any "protected" AAC files as they are added to your iTunes library.

    How do I use iOpener?

Just launch iOpener from your Start menu. If you want to decrypt all of the "protected" tracks in your iTunes library and playlists, just click the "iOpen!" button. It will transparently replace "protected" tracks in your library with the decrypted versions of those tracks.

It will also look for previously decrypted tracks and "scrub" them, so they will once again play properly in iTunes (this can happen due to changes in the encryption mechanism in iTunes between versions). If you close the main iOpener window, it will still run in the background, decrypting tracks as you add them to your library or purchase them. To close iOpener, right click on the icon (a litlle Swiss Army knife currently) and select "Exit".

    Requirements:

    · You'll need to have iTunes installed prior to running iOpener. iOpener has been tested with iTunes 4.8. You'll need the .NET framework version 1.1 installed. You'll probably need to be running Windows 2000 or Windows XP. iOpener may run on other versions of Windows, but hasn't been tested on any others. You'll need about a Megabyte of disk space as well.

Softpedia guarantees that iOpener 0.3 is 100% FREE, which means it does not contain any form of malware, including spyware, viruses, trojans and backdoors. [read more >]
