EXIF-O-Matic

A camera imprints all related details into pictures, but not on the actual image, since there’s a stunning amount, and variety of related details. These details are known as EXIF, with the possibility to view them directly in a picture’s properties panel. In case you want to export them, EXIF-O-Matic can do this at the press of a button.

One of the main advantages is that the application requires no installation in order to properly function. On the one hand, this means you can easily store it on a thumb drive, and carry it around. However, the computer you use it on needs to be equipped with Java Runtime Environment.

A big, blank main window shows up on launch, and you need to use dedicated functions to load pictures, because sadly, drag and drop is not supported. There are two way to the process, in the sense that you can either target a single file, or export data from all pictures inside that specific source folder.

As soon as you load a picture, most of the screen gets filled with a table containing all related details in two columns, on for tag name, while the other for value. An impressive variety of details are provided, considerably more than you’re able to find when looking at a file’s properties panel. Values can only be viewed, and not modified.

There’s not much to do except export generated details. This can either be done under a HTML file, with a cool layout, and table structure, or a plain text file. Exporting is done in the picture source directory. A simple file is generated for one picture, or a folder with files corresponding to all pictures, in case you export for all items.

EXIF-O-Matic manages to live up to expectations, coming equipped with a simple, yet highly intuitive interface, only taking a little of your time to load, and export all needed details. An abundance of tags are gathered, with options to choose separation methods in the resulting file, and batch support makes the whole operation worth your while.
