Rotation Pilot

With most modern mobile phones equipped with a camera nowadays, people started taking tons of pictures on a daily basis. Orientation quickly became a subject of debate, but there are various applications out there like Rotation Pilot which can help perform rotation, cropping, and flipping of multiple pictures with little effort.

On the visual side of things, the application sports an intuitive interface with most space dedicated to the preview area. A side panel is fitted with tabs to access processing tools, and unveil the set of corresponding options on selection. The status bar also comes in handy for viewing coordinates and RGB values under the mouse pointer.

File support makes it possible to process pictures under formats like JPG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, RLE, DIB, as well as TPI. Although there’s no possibility to process multiple pictures at a time, loading one is enough to have the entire directory ready. You can easily cycle through pictures, but there’s no list of pictures for quick preview.

There are three possible operations to perform. For starters, rotation makes it possible to tilt the picture in any direction, all corresponding values for sudden 90 degrees rotation are shown and updated in the properties panel, while manual rotation is done with the mouse.

Moreover, the resize tool allows you to either increase or decrease size specifications. Needless to say that a bigger picture than the original can have an impact on output quality. Changing size can be done gradually, or manually writing down new values, with the option to keep aspect ratio intact.

Last but not least, the flip tool only requires one click to select the new orientation. When done, you can move on the the next picture, with a prompt showing up to save your work. It’s possible to overwrite the original, or pick a new destination, but also a different format.

All things considered, we can state that Rotation Pilot is a straightforward, but pretty neat tool you can use to rotate, resize, and flip pictures. The properties panel of each tool provides intuitive preview of each possible value, while file support makes it possible to work with popular formats, and even convert.
