SScapture is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help you take screenshots in a full screen mode or capture the desired area of the desktop.

Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to take snapshots on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

You are welcomed by a clean feature lineup that embeds only a few configuration settings to tinker with. Everything is kept as basic as possible, so tweaking the desired parameters proves to be an easy task.

SScapture gives you the possibility to choose the desired capturing mode (full screen or custom region of the desktop) and export the snapshot to JPEG, GIF, or PNG file format.

Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to work with this program, even less experienced users can make the most out of this app in no time. During our testing we have noticed that SScapture provides good image quality. It is quite friendly with system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.

The tool lets you run the app at Windows startup, show tray notifications, reassign hotkeys, display a small icon on the screen for helping you quickly take screenshots, save the image manually or automatically to a user-defined location, set up file naming rules, as well as copy the captured image to the clipboard.

SScapture comes bundled with basic features for helping you take screenshots. It cannot be considered a top application from its category, as it lacks support for advanced features that could help you draw freehand designs on the screenshot using a pen and marker, embed text messages, set the image quality, and automatically take screenshots at a user-defined time, just to name a few suggestions.
