Shotty is a tiny software application that was built specifically to help individuals capture their screen, save and edit the resulting image.

This tool can be portable, seeing that during the installation process you can choose between the installer or portable version. If you choose the latter, you will be able to run it on the fly, on any machine you can connect to, by simply placing the program files to an external data device, such as a USB flash drive.

Another important aspect that you should take into consideration is that the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to suffer any changes, and no traces will be left behind after its removal from the hard drive.

This software utility enables you to capture the entire screen, as well as a selected window or region of the desktop. Moreover, when it comes to taking a snapshot of a window, you can choose whether to do it in a high or low quality resolution. All these actions can be assigned a keyboard shortcut, and resulted photos can be saved to a custom location on the hard drive, in formats such as PNG, BMP, GIF, JPG and TIFF.

After a screenshot is taken, the picture editing window is going to be brought up, enabling you to crop and resize, insert text with custom font type, style, size and color, and use a highlighter and a blur tool. In addition to that, you can undo actions, copy the project to the Clipboard, print or upload it to a few websites such as ImageShack.us, DirectUpload.Net, UploadScreenshot.com and Imgur.com.

To sum up, Shotty proves to be a tiny, yet highly efficient piece of software. All jobs are completed swiftly, the system’s performance is not going to be affected as CPU and memory usage is low. The interface is intuitive and fairly non-obtrusive.
