Softpedia Editor's Review for Adobe Illustrator
|
Explore new paths with the essential vector tool
Written by Elena Opris on November 9th, 2011
Adobe Illustrator CS5 is a vector graphic editor, designed for anyone who is passionate or who works with vector images.
The best thing about this tool is that while you're using it, all your work is fully editable and resizeable (without causing any damage to the image quality), so adjustments can be made at any time.
In addition, Illustrator supports cross-media design, so the layout will adapt to your preferences, whether you draw or edit something for printing, publishing online, or displaying on a mobile phone.
The installation process is fairly simple, but it takes a while. Make sure to select all of Illustrator's features to find out what they are capable of.
Illustrator's interface is very appealing and intuitive. Whether you are an expert designer or a novice, navigating through this software shouldn't be too difficult.
If you ever get lost at a point and don't know how to use a certain tool, be sure to look over the video tutorials. They are very straightforward and easy to follow.
New features found in Adobe Illustrator CS5 include a new Perspective Grid tool that allows you to draw in perspective, so your image's details are more accurate, dashed line adjustments, stretch control for brushes, several artboard improvements, a shape builder tool, and many others.
Since Illustrator is a complex program (like Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks), be sure the CPU and memory resources will be extensively used. Then again, you're in the big boys league now.
All in all, Adobe Illustrator CS5 is an impressive enhancement of CS4, and it definitely lives up to the present standards of vector graphic editors.
