Pictures don’t necessarily have to end up on social networks or include individuals. A picture can also be used as textures in different program and video game design elements. To help you out with processing, Cyotek Slicr comes with a neat workspace to slice up large photos into multiple custom chunks.

The application completely relies on .NET Framework to function, so you need to make sure it’s installed before you can benefit from all Cyotek Slicr has to offer. With the main window up, you can either load a picture, or use the project wizard to go through a series of steps to generate multiple slices with little effort.

File support is rather impressive. You’re able to load anything under formats like EMF, WMF, JPG, JPEG, JFIF, JPE, PNG, RLE, BMP, DIB, GIF, TIFF, and TIF. This applies to both import and export options. Note that you can only work on a single file at a time, but there is the possibility to save slice templates to have them quickly applied later on.

Working with large pictures is best, because slices and also end up in a large resolution. The preview area can be enhance with several view options to make elements easy to identify. These consist of a grid, slice number, highlighter, name, or even the image itself. Although there are no zoom options, you can display the image in full size, or force it to fit in the main window.

Slicing up a picture can be done in several ways. On the one hand, you can launch the slices wizard to create a custom pattern based on a number of rows and columns. There’s a preview area to help out, while finishing the configuration places the layout on the main window preview screen.

On the other hand, you can take matters into your own hand and either draw slice boxes freely over the image, or simple lines which automatically connect if a box is created. Slices can be individually saved and you can just as well choose to export all of them to a folder with custom name options based on preset tags.

To sum it up, Cyotek Slicr is sure to help you cut the right pieces of pictures under different popular formats. The variety of slice options is impressive even though you can only cut rectangular areas. You can choose to export a selection of slices, or all of them at once.
