EWD 3D (formerly Handy Easy CAD)
Handy Easy CAD is a handy and reliable CAD designer that sports a consistent feature set for creating and editing CAD drawings. In order to serve its purpose right, if offers a comfortable and intuitive environment that’s more approachable than similar applications.
It is suited for use in universities, as well as for architects and designers who are looking for a CAD application that’s easy to work with. It puts less stress on system resources, as opposed to other similar apps that usually slow down the system.
Handy Easy CAD features an intuitive and user-friendly appearance, with a natural feel to it. Its generous array of features is neatly organized inside a few toolbars and menus that can be explored easily.
The most part of the UI is reserved to the drawing area, which can be extended a whole lot if you run the application in full screen. A wide array of shapes and tools are available inside the quick bars located on the sides of the main window.
Some of the features in here are also available inside the menus, but it’s easier to access them from the toolbars, obviously. In addition, they have very illustrative icons, which reveal their functions from the first look.
You can create a new drawing from scratch or import a file in STL, OBJ, 3DS and DXF format, for which you can enable 3D visualizations, antialiasing, ORTHO or shades.
The list of shapes include lines, rectangles, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, images, 3D solids, prisms and pipes, to name just a few. You can also mirror, move, rotate, scale, break, join and divide a file.
Other tools allow you to calculate the area or volume of an entity or to convert a 3D solid to 2D, as well as to intersect points between wires and shapes.
All in all, Handy Easy CAD is a rich application that comprises an inspired set of features. Despite this, it cannot be compared against industry-leading products such as AutoCAD.
