JPEG Optimizer

JPEG Optimizer is a JPEG compressing app that allows users to easily reduce full-sized images in JPEG format.

The program can import pictures in various file formats except JPEG, like TGA, BMP and TIF. All imported photos are being displayed in two separate windows, one that carries the original sized photo, and a second that allows users to see the modifications in real time. A third panel can be added to the two, if the user wishes to see how the image would look with extra compression.

Besides the readily available windows containing real-time comparisons between the original and the modified photo, the top bar of the app is filled with easy-to-access extra options. The most important piece of the Options bar is a picture quality slider which the users can easily manipulate in order to change the image quality and size on the go.

Although not directly linked, the quality percentage next to the bar reflects the picture quality and relates to the size in bytes in the main window a bit lower. Users can access two extra mini-menus by selecting 'Expert Mode' and 'Wizard Menu,' which offers slightly more options for photo manipulation.

JPEG Optimizer is a powerful compression app that lowers the quality and size of JPEG files to extreme levels without altering the photo format. This is a very useful tool if you need to quickly upload JPEG or BMP files online as forum signatures or avatar pictures, without having to manually input any sort of data. You can simply move the slider left and right, and the compression happens in real time, right before your eyes.

Overall, JPEG optimizer puts accessibility before anything else. Everything you do is visible and obvious. There's no change made by the app which isn't reflected in the image you alter.
