WinTopo Freeware is a useful graphic editor which is ideal for the home user and office environment.

Originally developed in 1999, the WinTopo project was instigated to provide a quality raster to vector conversion solution as good as high priced commercial products. Free from the encumbrance of old legacy techniques, WinTopo benefits from recent and established research in the field of image processing. Since the product launch, WinTopo has gained the approval of hundreds of thousands of users worldwide.

How much would you expect to pay for such useful software? Nothing! WinTopo Freeware is offered completely free and unrestricted.

WinTopo Freeware was the springboard for the WinTopo Pro professional product. In December 1999 SoftSoft Ltd in the UK was enlisted to create a commercial version of this popular software tool. Before work started on WinTopo Pro, SoftSoft Ltd removed many bugs from WinTopo Freeware and added the immensely useful Polyline Reduction function.

Although not quite as efficient as WinTopo Pro, WinTopo Freeware is the complete solution for users wanting to do small volumes of raster to vector conversion.

Here are some key features of "WinTopo":

· Load BMP, TIF, GIF, JPG and PNG raster files.
· Perform raster thinning, or edge detection.
· Vectorise the thinned raster to single colour vectors.
· View the vectors overlaying the raster.
· Scale the vector drawing.
· Save the vectors to DXF, SHP, MIF, WMF or other vector formats.
