Image Compare

Image Compare is a useful tool for comparing similar images, that enables you to view them in parallel display, then decide which one you wish to delete. The software compares the images by filename, size, format, using an advanced algorithm and scanning the source folder. Moreover, it uses Flexible Tagged Format to save image data.

Image Compare can analyze similar images based on several parameters and it does not take rotation, scaling or color spaces into consideration. In other words, it identifies two images as similar even though they feature different resolutions, color schemes or space orientation. You need to load a picture folder into the software, then let it scan the directory and detect duplicate images.

Be sure to load a folder that contains exclusively pictures, since it is possible that the program could crash otherwise. The supported formats include JPG, PNG and GIF. Image Compare can display the similar images side by side, in groups of two, along with the filename, resolution, date the photo/picture was created and the level of differentiation between them.

Image Compare can perform a recursive scanning process in order to verify the indicated folder and subfolders. The cleaning of the unnecessary images is simple: you can view the images marked as identical and decide which one you wish to keep. When you delete one of the images, the software automatically brings up the next similar picture, if it exists.

In other words, even if the software finds three or more pictures similar amongst themselves, it can only display two at a time. The accepted level of differentiation is 10%. Any images with higher difference threshold are ignored.

By helping you compare images and dispose of the unnecessary ones, Image Compare in fact assists you in cleaning up your computer from unwanted pictures. The software indicates the scanning progress and displays the number of comparison processes left. You may easily refresh the scanning and analyzing process by clicking the ‘Go’ button.
