Image Compare

Comparing two images might seem like a redundant task, or a simple game, however, when trying to spot a fake, a utility that can do this proves to be quite useful. Image Compare is one of them, needless to say what it does, because the name is self explanatory.

The application is fairly simple to use, you just select two different images, and in the “Compare” tab you will be able to spot anything that does not match. If you choose the exact same images to test the application, you might think it is broken, due to its clever concept.

Image 1 will be displayed, and while you hover the mouse cursor over it, image 2 will be visible in a box that will follow, for you to closely see differences in specific areas. It makes it a practical application to spot fakes, because if you look at two whole images, it is hard to picture things that are not similar in both.

As mentioned above, it does not take a genius to figure out how it works. A few adjustable fields in each image tab, make comparison even easier. It is also possible to rotate the image, in any given tab, for a clearer view from any angle. You can choose to view in full size, or fit to the screen however, a zoom option would have made things a lot more easier.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Image Compare's user friendly interface, and clever comparison style, make it an application worth its name. It's especially useful for round items, however, even the slightest difference in any two pictures can be spotted.
