ORPALIS Virtual Barcode Reader

Barcodes of all formats have become a staple by which products and services can be recognized around the world by machinery since barcode languages are international in nature. Given how barcodes are som important, especially if you are trying to promote a product, service, or work in retail promoting others, it is no wonder that barcode reading and identification is serious business. ORPALIS Virtual Barcode Reader is a lightweight barcode reader that acts like the barcode version of an OCR program.

Strictly from a functional point of view, ORPALIS Virtual Barcode Reader is nothing more than a monitor scanner that helps you identify any valid barcode that is on your screen, as long as you hover the mouse cursor over it. Currently, the app is capable of ident 20 industrial linear barcode symbologies and also DataMatrix, PDF 417, Qr-Code and Micro Qr-Code symbols.

As soon as you open the app, the program will be automatically minimized to the system tray, and your mouse cursor will change to a red circle. As soon as you hover it over a valid barcode, the circle will turn green, letting you know that you got a hit. If you have multiple types of barcodes on the screen and are only interested in a particular type, you can add the ones you are interested in in a whitelist, allowing the app to ignore the ones that are of other formats. Identified barcodes can then be added to the clipboard, or directly exported to mail, sticky notes, and other writing tools of the sorts.

While ORPALIS Virtual Barcode Reader may not be the program of the sorts with the most features, the few things that it does manage to do, it does great, making it an excellent choice for those who want a lightweight program.
