An open-source multi-platform animation planning software developed with the Qt libraries

Pencil is an opensource multi-platform animation planning software developed with the Qt libraries.

It's *supposed* to help you in planning animation quickly (works for me). The interface and the timeline were designed for quick and easy timing changes, as we said before, this package was built for planning animation, not doing "proper" 2d animation.

There are surely other packages that do this, but I couldn't find any for the Mac that that were free and had a timeline that would allow quick timing adjustments.

Here are some key features of "Pencil":

· Timeline (create, move, shift and delete keys, edit timeline length and size[zoom])
· Real-time timeline scrubbing and playback with adjustable fps and looping
· Basic drawing tools (pencil, eraser, color, width, clear screen)
· Static background layer
· Onion skinning
· Save/Load
· Image import
· Copy/Paste/Undo/Redo
· Export to Image Sequence
· Export to Movie
· Export X-Sheet
· Basic sound playback
· Hotkeys


Limitations:

· Drawing area is of a fixed 640x480 size.
· Animations must start at frame 0. You'll notice that's the only key you can't move/delete. Frame 0 is always there!
· Save/Load ain't foolproof, be careful.
· Movie export in Windows only supports uncompressed AVI (big file size!), working on it for future versions.
· Various other limitations, as we said -> animation *planning* application!
