Running the application brings up a friendly interface that gets you up and running in no time, even if you have no previous video editing experience. All steps you need to take are organized in tabs, the first requiring you to make the selection of files you wish to work with.

There is no integrated drag and drop support, because files are only added to the scenes, with no place to store elements you might want to use in other projects. A side panel lets you navigate through your computer and once you stumble upon an item of interest you simply drag it to the scene section.

Progressing to the next steps you are given the possibility to enhance your creation with transitions and effects which you choose from a pretty decent list. There are little customization options available for either of the two enhancement possibilities, but variety and abundance make up for it.

Last but not least, to fully enjoy all the hard work, reaching the “Publish” tab brings up the last settings you need to adjust before you can view your result in an external player. Several device presets are available to choose from, but you are free to modify each setting as you see fit.

Moreover, hitting the “Custom” button lets you take full control over video and audio quality settings, with the possibility to export your work to formats including, but not limited to 3GP, AVI, MP4, or SWF.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Photo MovieTheater may not be the best application of its kind but it's easy enough to use and accessible to even the most inexperienced people. You are able to export to some of the most commonly used formats in both SD and HD, tipping the scales in its favor.
