Plot Digitizer 2.6.6
A compact application that helps users extract data from scanned graphs (JPEG, GIF, PNG), recalibrate the y-axis, as well as insert, delete, or move points
It proves to be useful for all users who need to view the original data values (x,y) from printed graphs, and it offers support for both linear and logarithmic axis scales.
Since this is a Java-based program, you should make sure you have previously installed the working environment on the computer otherwise you cannot run the app.
Plot Digitizer is a portable program, and it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to convert scanned graphs to data on the fly.
It sports a clean and straightforward layout that gives users the possibility to upload an image into the working environment using the built-in browse button, so you cannot rely on the “drag and drop” support.
Plot Digitizer offers support for GIF, JPEG, or PNG file format, and as soon as you move the mouse on each data point, the application automatically displays the values in the dedicated parameters.
The application lets you save the values to a plain text file, and import data from XML file format or data points from CSV file format. What’s more, you can undo or redo your actions, perform basic editing operations (cut, copy, paste), specify a maximum and minimum value for the x and y coordinates, as well as select the color for x and y-axis, lines, and grid.
Other important features allow you to zoom in or out, remove noise from images, recalibrate the y-axis, insert points between two already digitized points, delete points, as well as move points by dragging them to the desired location.
Last but not least, you can calculate the length of a digitized curve and area of a digitized polygon, and make the program automatically sort out the data from grid and lines.
All in all, Plot Digitizer offers an intuitive layout and a handy set of parameters for helping you extract data from scanned graphs.
