RGB Color Mix1.0
RGB Color Mix is a tiny and portable software application that could come in handy to web designers and graphic editors. It lets you tinker with the RGB channels to find out a preferred color and copy its hexadecimal value, in order to insert it into HTML code.
The app does not contain any kind of complicated options, making it accessible to all types of users, regardless of their previous experience with such software.
Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the program files in any location on the hard disk and just click the executable to run.
There is also the possibility to save RGB Color Mix to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.
An important factor worth taking into account is that the Windows registry and Start menu do not get updated with new entries, and no extra files are created on the disk, leaving it clean after removal.
Plain interface and simple options
In the visual department of the interface, RGB Color Mix does not stand out, preferring to adopt a classical look that lets users immediately dive into the configuration procedure.
All you have to do is move three sliders corresponding to the red, green and blue channels, respectively. The color they form is shown in real time in the main frame, along with its hex code which can be copied to the Clipboard. In addition, you can enable greyscale mode. There are no other noteworthy features available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
As expected, CPU and RAM consumption was low during our evaluation. We have not come across any issues in our tests, since the tool did not hang, crash or display error notifications.
However, it features pretty basic options that do not meet the requirements of most users. For example, it is not possible to directly input the RGB values, aside from adjusting their sliders. On top of that, the app does not provide access to the color spectrum.
Nevertheless, if you're looking for a straightforward utility that generates hexadecimal color codes fast from customized RGB values, then RGB Color Mix might be just the right fit.
