optiPNG-UI

Dedicated to image optimization, optiPNG-UI is a simple-to-use software application that promises to reduce the size of your PNG files, in order to make room for other files.

It works best for batch processing numerous PNG files, in order to free up space on your digital camera card, for example. The app also offer support for GIF, BMP, PNM and TIF file types.

Installing this tool is a fast job that shouldn't give you any trouble. Its interface is a bit unusual and looks cartoonish, but it's very easy to get around.

Images with the same file extension or different ones can be added to the task list by dragging and dropping files or directories with images into the main window. The items can be filtered by file type. Otherwise, you can ask optiPNG-UI to take into account all supported file formats for processing.

You can check out the size and resolution of each file, select the optimization level, ask optiPNG-UI to create backups in case you want to go back to the original images, keep or delete the file attributes, generate and study reports, as well as create the pictures interlaced or non-interlaces. Options can be saved as default.

When it comes to the reports, you can specify the size of the image thumbnails, open them using optiPNG-UI or another program, as well as ask the utility to repair any damaged photographs.

The tool offers multilingual support and carried out image optimization jobs swiftly while remaining light on system resources consumption. There were no problems in our tests, since it didn't hang, crash or prompt error dialogs.

Its interface needs some improvements, though, but we must also keep in mind that optiPNG-UI hasn't been updated for a long time. Otherwise, it offers a simple solution to reducing the size of PNG and other file types.
