Andrew's Vector Plugins Volume 20 'RandomTouch':
Background texture plugin: Create a background or texture set based on the selected paths or path or image or symbol. The plugin can be used to create subtle to extreme background texture designs or more. Superb hi-impact illustrations.
Pyramid plugin: Creates a pyramid of selected paths or paths or images or symbols
RambleShambles plugin: Creates a spray based on the selected path or paths.
RandomClutter plugin: Creates a clutter of stars, rectangles, circular designs, thin lines, and more. Great for general noise as well as dramatic effects.
RandomType plugin (for AI 10 only): Randomizes text in a variety of ways such as random sizing or shifts or colors.

The random type plugin works in 10 only. The text tool can be used to create stunning randomized text designs, changing the color of the text, the opacity of the text, the shift, the size, the scaling of the individual characters and much more. The plugin is great for creating stunning ransom notes etc. The other plugins also use the text in AI 10 as well, creating particle effects using text. In Adobe Illustrator CS1 and CS2, the easiest way around the lack of text handling is to convert the text into a symbol (symbols can be used)
The plugins can be used with basic paths or a single path or compound paths but the plugins can also be used with placed images. Either open an image and apply or use the place image command and then apply (another alternative, convert the image to text). You can't alter the image but re-size etc is available in some cases. If you convert the image into a symbol, you can always use the replace command at a later stage, changing the image to something else.
Random Clutter: The plugin creates a background using the basic shapes supplied by Adobe Illustrator - the shapes can be squares, stars, circles, polygons, and spirals (ok, it would be lovely to see the other new shapes as well.. but they are not currently in the plugin). If you wish, you can just use a square instead of all the other shapes.
